Crescens Robinson was a member of a large entrepreneurial family which had interests in paper making and printing in the UK and a retail business in Singapore.
Crescens Robinson & Co. was established in c.1860 in Southwark, London. Initially the company manufactured paper bags for grocers and other tradesmen, then evolved into a manufacturing stationer and lithographic printing company, with a paper works established at 48-50 Newton Causeway.
Crescens Robinson printed account book labels and specialised in fine printing of posters, with London Transport among its customers. The company also acted as agents for Robinson & Co., a retail company which had been established in 1858 by Philip Robinson in Singapore.
At some point, Crescens Robinson & Co. appear to have moved to Sutton in Surrey. The business closed down in 1989.
