Joel Edwards & Sons

Joel Edwards & Sons

Joel Edwards was a Yorkshireman who moved to London in the late 18th century to open a tailor’s shop.

Edwards died in 1813 but his two sons continued the business which became Joel Edwards & Sons.

The London Post Office Directory of 1859 lists the address of the company at this time as 9 Hanover Square, Oxford Circus. The firm specialised in making uniforms for the military and appears to have continued in business until c.1940.
