Quin & Axtens

Quin & Axtens

In the 1880s William Axtens established as a draper’s shop at 422 Brixton Road in south-west London. The shop slowly expanded and grew into a dpartment store which had a fierce rivalry with the nearby Bon Marché department store.

The rivalry ended when Quin & Axtens were taken over by Bon Marché in 1920.

The Quin & Axtens store was completely destroyed in a German air raid in May 1941 and only the ruined walls remained.
