S. Guiterman & Co., of Soho Square London, began as suppliers of motor vehicle accessories such as fan belts, oil guages, horns and steering column braces.
After the Second World War the firm’s main business was as a toy manufacturer and distributor. In 1947 the company was listed as a producer and supplier of dolls, metal and mechanical action toys, indoor games, die-cast pistols and jigsaws and puzzles.
In 1961 Guiterman acquired Morestone, a London based toy wholesale company, and changed its name to Budgie Toys.
Guiterman went into liquidation in 1966 and Modern Products bought the Budgie trademark and continued production until the end of the decade.
