Shell-Mex and B. P. Ltd.

Shell-Mex and B. P. Ltd.

Shell-Mex and B. P. was a joint marketing venture beteween petroleum companies Royal Dutch Shell and British Petroleum.

It was formed in 1932 when both companies decided to merge their UK marketing operations, partly in response to the difficult economic conditions of the time. The companies’ head offices were at Shell-Mex House on London’s Strand.

In 1975 Shell-Mex and B. P. was closed down after the operations had been split between the two parent companies in proportion to their shareholdings.
